What Are the Popular Mother’s Day Flowers?
With the onset of spring, people start looking forward to several special events that mark the beginning of yet another beautiful season. Mother’s day is one among them that falls on the second Sunday of May. And the event is celebrated primarily with flowers. Since Mother’s day is celebrated during the spring time, there is no dearth of beautiful and rare flowers. All sorts of flowers have their prime blooming time from February or March to May or June. Flowering plants have altered blooming patters within this range of time.
You can make your mom feel truly special by presenting her a bouquet of special flowers. In fact, gifting flowers makes up for a major part of your Mother’s day celebration. So, take your own time to decide upon the nature and kind of flowers you are giving. Mother’s day is a personal celebration, and you should always give priority to your mother’s personal tastes when it comes to flowers and gifts. But if you are confused there is nothing wrong in taking our advice. We will discuss a few special flowers that are closely related with Mother’s day.
Carnation is a good choice if you value symbolism and myths. Even the founder of Mother’s Day, Anna Jarvis celebrated the special occasion by distributing white carnations in the memory of her late mother. In fact, Anna has well laid the foundation of this tradition that celebrates Mother’s day by giving away flowers.
There are lot of myths and beliefs attached with Carnations. And there is a high possibility that Anna has chosen the flower for those very reasons. One of the most popular stories about carnations can be found in the Bible. It is said that carnations were born out of the tears shed by Mother Mary. The flowers referred in the Bible are pink carnations. For this very reason, carnations are considered as holy by the Christians. So, you can choose to include pink carnations in your Mother’s day bouquet. It would add more value to your gift.
Lilies are your next best choice. Lily is a symbol of purity and innocence. It is believed that Virgin Mary was gifted with a white lily by the Angel Gabriel when he brought the message of birth of Jesus.
Other popular choices are tulips, daffodils, scented narcissi and other spring flowers that bloom only during the spring season. You should use the right combination of flowers so that the entire arrangement looks well in place and irresistibly memorable.
Although, I have mentioned a few popular flowers, you should give importance to the aesthetic beauty of your flower arrangement. Scientific studies have proved that by the mere sight of flowers one’s senses are pacified. And different flowers emanate different feelings and they influence our moods in different ways. So, give priority to personal choices and tastes before purchasing any flowers for this Mother’s day.
