Flowers say it all or at least that’s what many of us think. No matter what the occasion or the holiday, if a woman is involved, the one fail safe gift that’s bound to be bought is Flowers and mother’s day isn’t any different. Our moms love us unconditionally and irrevocably, and our whole lives we count on them even when we’re thirty something and highly unlikely to admit it, we still need for mom to be there for us.
Although our moms have done so much for us and continue to support us, come this day there is an endless line outside flower shops and online flower retailers are overwhelmed with people clicking away as they order flowers for mothers day. Giving mom flowers means you love her and you want her to know how you feel but we need to think back to when we were kids; what if mom had given us the same candy bar year after year on our birthday? Or what if mom had given us a toy that didn’t do anything except blink random colors of light and then we had to throw it out in a week?
That’s what flowers do! Moms just smile and wonder out loud if they have a vase to put them in but the truth is they are going to die soon and you’ve just wasted money getting a redundant gift that doesn’t do anything. What you need to do is find an alternative to flowers that actually show your mom how much you love and appreciate her. You need a gift that she can actually enjoy or use around the house.
The problem is that there aren’t many alternatives to flowers that seem to make a nice mothers day gift. I’ve seen people send fake ones and horrible ones made of silk because they won’t wilt and can be used as an accessory in any part of the house but the truth is that mothers day gifts don’t really have to be flowers, they can be something unique and versatile like mothers day gift baskets that have a food themed and that mom can enjoy. Some exquisite mother’s day fruit baskets and fruit bouquet are also a good gift for mom. She’d enjoy eating the fresh fruit and there wouldn’t be anything to throw out. With flowers, no matter how happy you are when you get them, you’re going to be sadder when you throw them out. This year get your mom a gift she can enjoy and that she won’t have to throw out.
