Crepe paper flowers make a great Mother’s day gift and they are easy to make. Everyone knows that a mother and grandmother will love handmade items regardless of the givers age. We all learned that in kindergarten. Just because we have grown up does not mean that the women in our life do not still appreciate the simpler things in life the ones that put the biggest smiles on their faces – the ones made with our own two hands and are made with love.
Corsages are one of the easiest flowers to make and one of the most popular for Mother’s Day. You will need a good book on paper flower making and a few supplies that are listed in the book, many of which you probably already have in your home.
To make a corsage choose a flower the orchid is very popular as is the rose and carnation. However, you are free to pick any flower you want if you know the recipients favorite flower all the better the same with the color, women love it when you know their favorite flower and favorite color! You have two types of corsages to choose from the one that is pinned to the blouse and a wristlet. You can make either one if you do not know which one she will like best. Once you have made your flower you can use a piece of netting (available at all craft stores) to use as a backing, it is not necessary but adds a nice touch as do pearl headed pins.
The other type of corsage you can make is the wristlet. It is similar to a flower that is attached to a bracelet. This type of corsage is nice if the flower you chose is extra large, you will not have to worry about it falling over or having to use extra glue to keep it attached to the backing.
Centerpieces are also a great Mother’s Day gift if you know her favorite flower and color then use those to make the centerpiece if not then use an assortment of flowers and colors. It will look beautiful regardless of the flowers or colors you choose to use. You can use a vase as a holder and tie a nice ribbon or bow around it or you can use a special container with a design that you know she will love, if she likes angels or just loves flowers a metal container with a design will make the centerpiece even more attractive to her.
The ideas for crepe paper flowers for Mother’s Day are endless you know your mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, wife better than anyone else so just make the flowers with her likes and interests in the front of your mind and she will be delighted with her Mother’s Day gift!
